Kovter is a name of a cyber threat that has been categorized as a ransomware as per its properties. This virus uses the emblem of Federal Police Bureau to scare people to extort money. It hacks a PC, blocks each and every process running in your operating system. It even hacks the browser and uses surfing history from the last few days or months to track what user's been surfing. If there is a porn site in there, then it helps the authors of this very virus to beef up the impact of this threat.
Kovter blocks the desktop with a notification which states that concerned PC was distributing illegal stuffs for which PC has been locked down. You will have to pay a penalty of $300 to make it unlock completely. And if the fine is not paid within 48-72 hours, a criminal case shall be initiated against the user. Well, no need to get threaten and scared because this is all fake and nothing would happen to you. All you have to do here is to remove Kovter immediately to get rid of these annoying messages.
